It’s now even easier to Live The Lifestyle

From function venues to family fun – Pinnacle Point continues to add to its world-class range of facilities

Imagine looking out through panoramic windows, sweeping over verdant green verges to the craggy cliffs and the blue waters of the Indian Ocean below. You’re enjoying an ice cold glass of sparkling wine, and scanning the sumptuous platters circulating around the guests. It’s just the start of the wedding reception, and already you can’t imagine being anywhere else.

Or, you’re sipping on hot, aromatic coffee, listening to a colleague’s presentation with clear sound and top audio-visual technology. Although you’re interested in the latest company stats, you can’t help but glance outside and look forward to an afternoon round of golf on the 18-hole championship course.

Soon, events such as weddings, conferences, corporate and private functions will become a reality at Pinnacle Point Estate, as the new 80-seater function venue opens later in 2016. This is just one of a number of exciting new facilities on offer at the prestigious lifestyle estate on the Garden Route.

New facilities to be opened in October 2016

Towards the end of 2015 and throughout 2016, homeowners and visitors to Pinnacle Point have been able to track the progress of a number of new developments on the estate. And the exciting news is that they are soon to be complete – they will be functional and open to the public in October 2016!

The world-class facilities include: A new extension to the clubhouse and a revamp of the existing clubhouse, a restaurant upgrade, the construction of a kiddies’ entertainment centre, a professionally-managed wellness centre, golf cart barn, function venue, beauty salon, heated indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room.

Each new facility has been planned down to the finest detail, with four treatment rooms (two couple’s and two singles) in the wellness centre. There is a covered walkway joining the restaurant and lounge/bar area, allowing diners to go from sundowners to supper at their leisure. The upgraded upstairs lounge area, now separate from the main restaurant, is surrounded by groomed greens and panoramic vistas of the deep blue Indian Ocean.

Families are not forgotten

At Pinnacle Point, families are very important. The development team’s research revealed that while parents would like the freedom to relax, enjoy a sundowner or a romantic meal together, they do feel prohibited from doing so due to familial responsibility.
With this in mind, little ones can look forward to plenty of fun at the new kiddies’ entertainment area, which will offer December and Easter holiday programmes with activities such as face painting, DVD viewing and a variety of creative crafts.

More than an estate… a destination

This development project is part of an overall vision to have world-class facilities available on the estate for both homeowners and visitors. “Pinnacle Point will not only be an estate, but a destination,” says Pinnacle Point General Manager, Carl van der Linde. He adds: “Pinnacle Point has always been seen as purely a beach and golf estate with limited other facilities. The extra facilities we’ve been developing over the last year will enhance the value of properties on the estate and create a space where people can create the lifestyle of which they dream.”

And according to van der Linde, “residents are very excited with the projects, and cannot wait to support the wellness centre.”

With the opening of the function venue, Pinnacle Point will also be able to play host to events such as weddings and conferences. The catering for the function venue will be enabled by an extension of the existing Pinnacle Point kitchen. “There is huge demand for events at Pinnacle Point,” says van der Linde, “and finally we can fill the gap with our functional, convenient and beautiful function venue.”

The expansion will also allow Pinnacle Point to host world-class corporate golf days, a source of great excitement for local golf enthusiasts!

Created with you in mind

The new developments were carefully planned to offer ‘something for everyone’. “This is how we can create an estate that caters to the needs and wants of the individual,” says van der Linde. “We need to cater for golfers, holiday-makers, residents, visitors – all of different ages and interests.” With this goal in mind, Pinnacle Point will continue to improve its facilities to satisfy individual tastes and preferences.

Also in the Pinnacle pipeline…

And the continual improvement of Pinnacle Point doesn’t stop there…the next set of developments are already in the planning stage. Residents and visitors can look forward to watching the whales go past in the azure blue ocean on a new wooden deck at the Oyster Bay Beach.

Van der Linde also hinted that management is negotiating with a gym operator to build a boutique gym at the driving range, and they’re also working on a concept to construct 14 loft-style apartments for the estate. These modern apartments will be operated as a rental pool system, allowing even more people the opportunity to experience this piece of paradise.

Existing facilities at Pinnacle Point

Not to be forgotten, the Pinnacle Point Estate is already home to a number of award-winning, unique facilities. One of the main attractions of Pinnacle Point has always been its 18-hole golf course, which has been named one of the best in South Africa, along with a technologically-advanced golf academy and club-fitting and repairs centre at the Pinnacle Point Peak Performance Centre.
The golf course this year celebrates a decade of superior golfing. When the golf course opened in 2006, it was selected by the American publication, Golf Travel & Leisure as one of the top 10 new courses in the world. Since its opening, the golf course has since been rated among the top 20 courses in South Africa.

Other attractions to the Pinnacle Point Estate are the two magnificent beaches, Oyster Bay and Eden Bay; and those who prefer to stay out of the waves can cool off in the large communal pool, which also has a paddling pool for children. And with the indoor swimming pool soon to be complete, bathers will be spoilt for choice.

There is plenty to do for those who like to stay active – from mountain biking to hiking, trail running, fishing and, of course, golfing. And while enjoying these activities, nature lovers can’t help but notice the array of bird life, animals and natural splendour that surround them.

Another gift bestowed on this beautiful plot of land are the Pinnacle Point Caves, where remains of Middle Stone Age ancestors dating back 162 000 years have been found. This remarkable record of history was discovered by Dr Peter Nilssen and Mr Jonathan Kaplan during Pinnacle Point’s pre-development environmental and heritage impact assessment in 1997. Dr Nilssen now runs the must-see Point of Human Origins Experience to the caves, which have been declared a Provincial Heritage Site and nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Already a winner

With the superb quality of the estate’s existing facilities and features, Pinnacle Point was awarded the 2014/2015 International Award for Best Golf Development in Africa, a global symbol of property excellence. The estate was also highly commended in the residential category of the award; and once the new developments are complete, the estate should certainly be deserving of the number one spot.

A dream becomes reality

Van der Linde says that the new developments have been a rewarding process for him as GM – he has been involved in the project from the outset in January 2012 and part of the original negotiations and approvals. Now, his dreams are coming to fruition and, “we have a world-class facility,” he says.

From opening primarily as a golf course in 2006, Pinnacle Point has continued to improve its offering and facilities, allowing more people to enjoy this ‘Estate of Eden’. As the estate continues to expand its facilities, so will the quality of lifestyle for homeowners and visitors be further enhanced. Pinnacle Point can be proud to further entrench its prestigious position as not just a residential estate and golf course, but a sought-after lifestyle destination in South Africa.

Final words from the GM?: “Pinnacle Point is the place to be!”
